- Served as an event planner for a community of more than 300 WashU Chinese students interested in computer science and career development.
- Organized and participated in non-hackathon events covering LeetCode practice, interview skills, course selection, and academic planning.
- Supported a course helper program that assisted 15 students with schedule planning.
Project narrative
Situation
During my final two semesters, most club leaders were occupied with job searches, graduate-school applications, and their own projects, so the club was hosting fewer events and relying more heavily on online sessions.
Task
Although the club website and media resources were outside my assigned responsibilities, I wanted the club to meet my baseline for being useful and responsive to its members through graduation.
Action
I repeatedly checked the leadership group for missing opportunities, such as the narrow course-selection window, proposed events we could still run, helped plan and attended every club event except the hackathon, kept the website content current, requested post-event photos from teammates, listened to member feedback, and offered personalized help when needed.
Result
Despite reduced leadership capacity, the club continued serving more than 300 members, and its course-helper program assisted 15 students with schedule planning.
